Cooking lessons
Maria Antonia can come to our house for a lesson in traditional Sardinian and Italian food, for example Ravioli followed by Tiramisu. Or make your own suggestions of what you would like to cook. You prepare the dishes under her guidance and then eat them. 30 Euros per person for Ravioli and Tiramisu. There is a minimum of four people or 120 Euros in total. Contact Jonathan.
Sardinian Wine Tasting
Sardinia has a vast and complex production of different types of wine, from simple homemade to top quality. Here is a selection.
Of the larger wineries in the area this is the best, producing a wide variety of Sardinian wines. At the winery, you can buy a surprisingly good Vermentino for 2 € a liter (plus the cost of a three or five liter plastic container if you don't bring your own) pumped directly from the steel container where it has matured. You can also buy Aristanis Brut Metodo Classico, which was elected Best Sparkling Wine in Italy in the “5 StarWines – the Book 2026” guide. And a great variety of other good wines in between.
The Cantina is a cooperative that has existed since 1953. In 2025, they one the prestigious prize "Cantina of the Year" from VinItaly. They arrange wine-tastings.

There are also many smaller cantinas. Some of them produce a variety of wines (which are also good), but each of them is chosen for specializing in a unique grape found only locally.
Angelo cultivates the rare Malvasia di Bosa grape. It is mainly a dessert wine. He makes it with or without Botrytis, the noble rot. He also makes it with flor, giving it a sherry like quality. On the other hand, his Filicario Vermentino is a crisp wine that goes well with a variety of dishes, and Phoenix, a sociable wine, that also fits with seafood. See our blog post for more about him. He will take you round his winery and explain in Italian how his wine is made and its history. The informal tour ends with a tasting of his wines.

Azienda vitivinicola S'Anatzu Mauro D. Putzolu
This is a tiny winery that only makes Vernaccia di Oristano, a wine that has been cultivated in the area for thousands of years. Mauro and Monica invite you into their cantina and back garden to spend a whole evening learning about Vernaccia and pairing Vernaccia of different ages with a complete meal. An astonishing experience. Monica speaks English. Contact Monica on WhatsApp or by telephone at +39 338 748 1552.

Olive Oil Soap Making with Maria Antonia
Under Maria Antonia's guidance, you can make your own soap to take home! It takes about 2-3 hours to make, and then 1-4 days to set, depending upon the air temperature. If your soap has not set before you leave, she will give you some from her supply to take with you.

How to Make Olive Oil
Cuglieri is the oldest area in Sardinia for olive oil cultivation. Peddio has a large modern olive press. Laura provides a guided tour of their press in English and also shows how olive oil was made in the past. At the end, you get to taste their olive oils.
Telephone or WhatsApp Laura at +39 342 708 3305.
Cyanotype
Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create white and Prussian blue images. A beautiful way of capturing leaves and nature. One can learn this at Ora Blu Lab, an artists cooperative in Cuglieri.
Contact Ora Blu Lab for more information.
Photo walks
Cuglieri is surrounded by exceptional natural beauty. A photographer takes you to some of these spots. He provides a brief theoretical and practical introduction to creative photography and is available to help participants. Often combined with something to eat and drink.

Guided walks and trekking
Cuglieri Excursions offers several beautiful excursions by foot in the area, along trails impossible to find for most people. They have both easy walks and more demanding trekking. Their qualified guide Helga Jonsson is Swedish but has lived in Cuglieri for 14 years and is very knowledgable about local fauna and flora, history, and traditions. It's also possible to combine the excursion with workshops, such as cheese making or makramé.

Farming
The village life around Cuglieri is centred around different types of agriculture and farming, especially olive oil and wine. But also animals. In Cuglieri there are truly ecological farms where for instance cows roam free the year round together with their calves and where the meat is only sold locally. In the village this is called proprio proprio farming. If you are interested we can try to arrange a visit to one of those farms.
